DRM Sealdah Inspects Kakdwip and Namkhana Stations Ahead of Ganga Sagar Mela; Emphasizes Passenger Comfort and Safety.



KOLKATA , 08 Jan 2026:* 
With the holy Ganga Sagar Mela approaching, Divisional Railway Manager, Sealdah Sri Rajeev Saxena conducted a comprehensive inspection of Kakdwip and Namkhana railway stations today. The visit was focused on reviewing the preparedness of the railway infrastructure to handle the massive influx of pilgrims expected for the annual festival.
During the inspection, DRM meticulously reviewed several passenger amenity areas to ensure a seamless experience for devotees.
*Areas of Inspection:*
*Holding Areas* : Evaluated the capacity and management plans for passenger holding areas to prevent overcrowding and ensure smooth movement.

*Ticket Counters* : Directed officials to optimize ticketing services, including the possibility of additional counters, to minimize waiting times and maximum uses of M-UTS.

*Sanitation & Hygiene* : Conducted a thorough check of toilet blocks, emphasizing the need for 24/7 cleanliness and water availability.

*Lighting & Safety:* Inspected lighting arrangements across platforms and circulating areas to ensure the safety of passengers traveling during evening and night hours.

                         DRM/Sealdah Sri Rajeev Saxena, issued strict instructions to ensure that no passenger or pilgrim faces any inconvenience. He emphasized that the railway administration must work with a "service-first" mindset, ensuring that basic necessities like drinking water, medical aid, and clear signage are readily available.

                           Sealdah Division is committed to continuous monitoring of these stations to ensure all arrangements are fully operational before the peak days of the Ganga Sagar Mela 2026.
