Eastern Railway, Sealdah Division is pleased to announce the successful and early completion of a significant infrastructure upgrade on the Halishahar-Naihati rail line. This project involved a comprehensive point conversion of point no 158A/159 , track renewal with heavier rails, and crucial ground level improvements, resulting in enhanced safety, speed, and reliability for train operations.

Outdated points have been replaced with modern, advanced technology, ensuring smoother and more efficient train movements. The existing 52 kg rails have been replaced with 60 kg rails. This upgrade provides increased strength and stability, allowing for higher train speeds and reduced wear and tear. Necessary modifications have been made to the ground level to accommodate the new track infrastructure, further contributing to smoother train operations. Comprehensive maintenance work was carried out as part of the project to ensure the long-term reliability and safety of the upgraded infrastructure.

A significant benefit of this project is the substantial reduction in the likelihood of signal failures. The modern signalling system, combined with the upgraded track and points, will minimize disruptions and delays for passengers.

DRM Sealdah Sri Deepak Nigam stated that, this upgrade represents a substantial investment in the safety and efficiency of the Halishahar-Naihati section. The heavier rails, advanced point technology, and ground level improvements will allow us to run trains at higher speeds, reducing travel time for our passengers. Furthermore, the reduced risk of signal failures will lead to more reliable train operations. Remarkably, the project was completed 20 minutes ahead of schedule, demonstrating the efficiency and dedication of the teams involved. Sealdah Division thanks to passengers for their patience during the upgrade work and is confident that they will experience significant improvements in their travel experience on this route.
