Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of NIPER Kolkata

 

Araley Abdaleye News, Kolkata, Friday, 25th August’ 2023: The Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research(NIPER), Kolkata, was held on Friday (25-08-2023).The Foundation Stone was laid by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Hon’ble Union Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers and Health & Family Welfare, Govt of India.

The Ceremony took place in the august presence ofProf V Ravichandiran, Director, NIPER Kolkata,Dr. Jayanta Chakrabarti, Director, Chittaranjan Cancer Hospital, Kolkata; Ms. Nirja Saraf, Managing Director, BCPL, Kolkata; Dr. Hiranmoy Chattopadhyaya, M.L.A., and Shri Awadhesh Kumar Choudhary, Sr. Economic Advisor, Dept. of Pharmaceuticals, MoC&F, Govt. of India.

Prof V Ravichandiran, Director, NIPER Kolkata, welcomed the dignitaries andpresented the achievements of the institute. Prof V Ravichandiranexpresses sincere gratitude on behalf of Chairman, BoG to Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Hon’ble Union Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizers and Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, Ms. S. Aparna, Secretary, Dept. of Pharmaceuticals, NIPER Council for their support and encouragement towards the progress of the institute.He also mentioned theestablishment of “Centre for Marine Therapeutics” and “Rare Disease Therapeutics” whichaim to provide affordable medicines to society. He further informed that the Institutewill establish a Centre of Excellence in Flow Reactor and Continuous Manufacturing with thefunding support of Rs.100 Cr. from the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Govt. of India.

Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, conveyed his greetings to all delegates, students, faculties,and press & media. He announced 78 crore rupees for the construction of a permanent campus of NIPER KOLKATA in Panihati and 100 crores to build the centre of excellence. In his speech, he expresses the amplitude of Indian pharma industries and theirmanufacturing capacity by saying, "4 out of 1 pill consumed in the world is made in India. Dr. Mansukh Mandaviyashares the view of the honorable Prime Minister to support 8000 MSME pharma companies in the field of research and innovation. With this view, the Ministry of Pharmaceutical makes the NIPERs a center of excellence in their respective domain.

In a holisticapproach,the NIPER should collaboratewith the industries to participate in industrial research and also want to make a bridge between industry and academia. To encourage entrepreneurship ideas minister announced 150 crores to 150 innovative ideas.
